First, I would like to thank you all for your support.
I had a great experience during the 6 week challenge at Brien Shamp Boot Camp. I signed up because I was focused on loosing weight. During those 6 weeks, I learned how to put myself as a priority, how to eat healthy, what to eat and when to eat. I did exercise 5 x per week and I did it because I trusted all the information that Brien, his team of coches offered to me. I also requested some tips from Brien and other coaches from Burlingame/San Mateo and I put it in practice. I wanted to win, not just to loose weight, but I wanted to prove myself that I can finish what I started. My workout time was at 8:20 am in San Mateo/Burlingame. A great class and coaches.

I did Brien Shamp's 6 week challenge through Brien Shamp's Fit Body Boot Camp. I appreciate that Brien supports lifestyle changes instead of temporary "diets" or quick fixes. He and the other coaches at Fit Body Boot Camp were very approachable, accessible and informative if I ever had questions or concerns. They, along with all the other participants of the Boot Camp really made it feel like a community that was there to support one another, and I found that to be so valuable.
The workouts themselves were fun, very challenging, and short. I always tried to get there 15 minutes early to stretch before a workout, but once the coach got started, the workouts were always a half hour long. I could have done multiple workouts in one day if I wanted to, but typically I was too tired to do a second one because the workouts really challenged me while still being do-able. I also appreciated that the coaches made sure we were all doing the exercises correctly, and would help us modify them to be easier, harder, or just different if we needed alternatives. The program also focused a lot on education about nutrition and healthy lifestyles in general (regular sleep, reducing stress, breathing, water, etc). I appreciated all of their knowledge and counseling about health and especially nutrition, and how all inclusive the program is when it comes to lifestyle and health.
For the boot camp, my main goals were to lose weight, feel more fit, meet people, and have fun. I lost about 8 pounds in 6 weeks, which was less than I had hoped for, but I also have a thyroid problem that has made losing weight a big challenge in my life. However, I lost 5% of my body fat, which I was really excited about, and I felt much stronger. My friends and family have also commented that I look thinner and my skin looks better. I enjoyed the community and felt that it was very inclusive and friendly, and I thought every workout was fun... they never felt static or repetitive, which I often find to be the case with workout routines.
Being able to get my money back was a huge motivator, so I thought that I would either make the challenge and get my money back, or I would not make it but get healthier in the process and spend some money doing it, and I feel that being healthy is probably what we should all spend more of our money on (I mean, what's the point of money if we're not around to spend it). I definitely think that the Boot Camp helped me to establish patterns and habits that will help me be a healthier me, and I am so glad that I did it!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Tiffanie N.South San Francisco, CA2102Dec 3, 2018
I just completed my 2nd round of 6 weeks challenge (a year apart)! I am extremely grateful for such a supportive coaching team that motivated me to do my best. Not only was I able to learn to make better food choices, lose weight & body fat but even more so, I gained energy & feeling mentally/physically stronger.

In full transparency, I went here because there was posting on Facebook for a free 6 week challenge. I am not giving my rating because I wasn't chosen, I'm giving the two star rating based on my initial interactions with Tonya, brief as they were. She was not very friendly and was actually having a very minor argument with another interviewee about sanitizing the foot scale while I was waiting to be greeted. When I was finally noticed, she made comment that she wasn't expecting a third person, because I wasn't on the schedule. When I told her I had the email confirmation, she sighed, "its fine, not a problem". To me first impressions are important and for someone who is a trainer and to act like this, I would hesitate wanting to join this group. If anything I felt I was a nuisance vs a potential future client (paying one or not)
Understanding that they are holding interviews to ensure they find candidates who will be successful in the fitness and nutritional aspects of the program- those interviews should probably be held via online survey or something. With the 400 people or so that Tonya has been interviewing, making phone calls would be out of the question. I'm lucky that I have support group I can reach out to babysit my 7 month old so I can go to the "interview", but for other new moms, I can see this being a negative experience because of the time spent getting there and being told that the challenge would not be a good fit for them.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nicole N.Daly City, CA71121Dec 1, 2018

I started the 6 week challenge to help me jump start some life style changes to improve my general health and sense of self. I spend anywhere from 2-3 hours a day commuting to and from work and found it difficult to find a gym/ program that would fit my insane schedule. Brien Shamp's 6 week challenge was perfect with the availability of hella early classes that help me beat some of my commute time and also get done with my workout before having to be at work at 7:30 am. I appreciated the structure of having an accountability coach to check in with, ask questions, and the fitness classes are only 30-35 mins long and the right intensity to feel the burn wo burning out. The trainers are great and helpful to make adjustments to accommodate where you are (increase or decrease intensity). The nutritional component was also helpful for the most part but sometimes the information around the various types of diets where confusing as to what you can/ can't/ shouldn't eat based on goals. I found it useful to also connect with other 6 week challengers to have a sense of community of trying to achieve our personal goals -and made workouts more enjoyable when you're drowning in your own pool of sweat. I think the gym could do more to facilitate more community building around the 6 week challengers cohorts. In the end, I was able to surpass my original goal to loose 5% of my body fat, and lost 6.4%- I barely loss the pounds I was hoping for - but I think increasing my muscle mas was more important.
If I had the opportunity to do another 6 week challenge I totally would do it again, but due to costs and the challenge of getting up before 5am, to make my fitness goals- I'm not able to continue. For those looking for a well structured and supported process to gain back some control of their bodies I'd recommend Brien Shamp's!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Melissa Z.Pacifica, CA9242Feb 18, 2019
Very helpful staff. Fun but challenging workouts. I have learned a lot in the last 6 weeks.

What a fun group of coaches! Lots of encouragement and support, they make comments and suggestions that are specific to each person, which tells me that they take the time to get to know everyone individually. Their instructions are clear and they give different variations depending on your strength and ability. I never felt ashamed or embarrassed when I started out. At one point during my first session, I was so out of shape that I had to sit for a moment to catch my breath and I didn't feel like anyone was judging me. I felt safe and valued. I haven't had any regrets since I started & I'm so thankful to have found something that works for me. I'm sure it will work for anyone.

I absolutely love coming to boot camps every morning - I leave energized and ready for the day. There are modifications for all fitness levels, and it has been so rewarding to see myself get stronger each week. After finishing my first 6-week challenge, I am so happy with my results and definitely see it as a starting point for a complete lifestyle change. I love that the program takes a holistic approach to fitness and wellness, and have loved being part of such a supportive community.

I joined Brien Shamp's boot camp in July 2012 and it has been life changing experience. The facility is well organized and each class is different. The coaches are what makes the difference. Each of them are skilled in exercise techniques and they take the time to make sure you are doing the exercises properly and providing alternatives if needed. The group dynamic is encouraging, because there are people with all different skill levels. The synergistic nature of working out with others is a key motivator. Another exciting aspect is that every class is different. We do a variety of work with TRX, kettle bells, body weight squats and sprints that keep the class exciting. I wouldn't think of doing any other boot camp, because they have a team of coaches who care. Tonya, Leslie, Gerald and Kevin bring a level of enthusiasm and commitment to your fitness journey.

Every class is different and the instructor Tonya (PHENOMENAL) is great with encouragement and offering alternative exercises. As someone who never had any physical activity in the past, this class will keep you motivated. If you are looking for a setting in which you can receive results (20 pounds so far), build muscle and stamina, this is the class for you. Also, try the 10 day detox, which has transformed my relationship with food and sugar cravings. There are other bootcamps out there, but this one raises the bar, as the exercise program is designed for results that are achievable and sustainable. You won't regret it.
